Kangaroos are marsupials that give birth to underdeveloped offspring, known as joeys, which continue to grow outside the uterus. Female kangaroos have a special pouch where the young are kept safe and warm while they develop. The young remain in the pouch for about 6 to 9 months before venturing into the world.
