Belarus forcefully diverts flight carrying journalist

A passenger plane was diverted to Belarus, where dissident journalist Roman Protosovich was seized. Belarusian President Lukashenko claimed the diversion was due to a bomb threat, but no bombs were found. Protosovich, fearing the death penalty, was detained before the plane continued to Lithuania. Neighboring countries, Latvia and Lithuania, declared Belarusian airspace unsafe.
