Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador resumed his official duties after recovering from COVID-19, which he contracted on January 24. He appeared without a mask at a press conference, stating that doctors advised he is no longer contagious. Despite criticism for downplaying mask effectiveness, he remains firm in his stance. López Obrador attributed his infection to working closely with many people and received experimental antiviral treatment from a prestigious public medical center. He experienced mild symptoms and plans to get vaccinated in March when the country begins immunizing seniors over 60.
