VOICED : Greenpeace pide a Total alejarse del coral en la Amazonia

Greenpeace has issued a message to employees of the French oil company Total, urging them not to allow their company to destroy the Amazon's coral reefs. The environmental organization warns that a coral bank discovered in the Amazon in 2016 is at risk due to Total's oil projects. A peaceful protest took place in front of Total's headquarters in Rio de Janeiro, demanding the company abandon its plans to exploit oil near the Amazon River's mouth, close to the unique and newly discovered Amazon corals. The Brazilian Institute of Environment recently rejected Total's environmental study for oil exploration in the Amazon River's mouth, threatening to end the authorization process if guarantees on the coral barrier's impact are not provided.
