Javier Tejeda Jaramillo, a Mexican artist, has gained international recognition for his art, reaching countries like New Zealand, France, and the USA. Formerly a police officer, he was imprisoned for 31 years for the murder of DEA agent Enrique Camarena in 1985, a crime that exposed police corruption and affected US-Mexico relations. Released early for good behavior, Tejeda turned to art as a refuge during his incarceration. Now 64, he produces 200 paintings annually, with some selling for up to $7,000 online. Despite his past, he seeks new dreams and continues to grow as an artist.
