The Black Nazarene Festival in the Philippines is a significant religious event where around 80,000 people participate in a procession venerating a statue of Jesus believed to have miraculous powers. Many Filipino Catholics attribute personal miracles to their devotion to the statue. The original statue arrived in the Philippines in the 17th century from Mexico, and its black color is said to be due to a fire during transport. The recent procession was the first since 2020, following cancellations due to the pandemic.
