A consortium led by Brazil's Odebrecht and Singapore's Changi won the bid to manage Rio de Janeiro's international airport for 25 years, offering $8.2 billion, exceeding government expectations. Another consortium, Aerobrasil, including Brazilian groups and Zurich and Munich airport operators, secured a 30-year contract for Belo Horizonte's Confins terminal with an $800 million bid. The Brazilian government has been preparing for nearly two years to privatize these airports, which require urgent upgrades, ahead of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
