Hubble finds a Black Hole Igniting Star Formation in a Dwarf Galaxy

Black holes are often seen as destructive, but NASA's Hubble Space Telescope has found evidence of a black hole in a dwarf galaxy creating stars. This occurs when gas launched by the black hole compresses a dense cocoon of gas, leading to star formation. Unlike supermassive black holes in larger galaxies, which have outflows too fast for star formation, the smaller black hole in the dwarf galaxy has slower outflows that allow for this process. These findings help us understand black holes in the early universe and their role in star formation.
