Akhenaten transformed Egypt's religion by promoting the Aten cult and declaring himself and Nefertiti as divine. He moved the capital to Al Amarna, breaking from traditional practices. Despite initial success, his neglect of diplomacy led to losses against the Hittites. Personal tragedies, including the deaths of his family members and Nefertiti, weakened his reign. Akhenaten's death marked the end of his religious reforms, with Tutankhamun restoring the old cult.
