Gliza 486-B is a rocky exoplanet orbiting a red dwarf star, discovered by the Carmenez Consortium. It has a high surface temperature, making it uninhabitable, but its atmosphere can be studied from Earth. The planet is larger and heavier than Earth, with stronger gravity. Its discovery is significant because it allows for atmospheric study through spectroscopy, as it crosses the line of sight between Earth and its star.
