Comets have been seen as omens throughout history, but recent research suggests they may be crucial to the origin of life on Earth. The Solar System contains icy bodies beyond Neptune, some of which are pulled towards the Sun, forming comets. As they approach, they develop a coma and tail, reflecting sunlight. Comets may have delivered amino acids, the building blocks of life, to Earth. With many stars having Earth-like planets, comets could seed life elsewhere, suggesting a future where humanity explores its cosmic origins.
