Unification of England - 3 Minute History

In the 9th century, the Vikings invaded England, establishing control in Northumberland and Ireland. The Anglo-Saxons, led by Alfred the Great, resisted these invasions. Edward the Elder and Aethelflaed united Wessex and Mercia, defeating the Danes. Aethelstan later unified England, but faced challenges from Scotland and Viking forces. After his death, conflicts continued with Norwegian influence in Northumbria. The English eventually regained control, marking a period of shifting alliances and power struggles in the British Isles.
