An Egypt Air plane was hijacked and diverted to Larnaca, Cyprus. The hijacker initially released Egyptian passengers, keeping foreigners and crew as hostages. Later, more hostages were released, but some remained. The hijacker claimed to have explosives and demanded asylum in Cyprus, as well as a meeting with his ex-wife. Authorities stated the incident was not terrorism-related.
