In the late 1800s, Jacob Davis and Levi Strauss revolutionized work pants by adding rivets to areas of stress, creating the modern jeans we know today. Although the name 'Jacob's jeans' was never adopted, the term 'jeans' is derived from the city of Genoa in Italy.
