VOICED : El Vaticano crea equipo de cricket

The Vatican has launched its own cricket team, composed of priests and seminarians, as a form of sports diplomacy. This initiative aims to engage with countries where cricket is popular, such as India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. The idea was supported by the Australian ambassador to the Holy See, John McCarthy. The team provides an opportunity for young priests and seminarians in Rome, who hail from cricket-playing nations, to play the sport. Additionally, teams of Hindu and Muslim religious figures will be formed to promote interfaith dialogue. Cricket is seen as a unique platform for fostering religious dialogue, potentially achieving what religious leaders have long sought.
