Weather Conditions Create Problems With Wildfires

The West is experiencing record heat, with significant fires in California. The Ranch and Lake fires are largely uncontained, burning thousands of acres. Firefighters made some progress due to cooler overnight temperatures, but hot, dry, and windy conditions are expected to persist. Success was noted in containing other fires near Los Angeles and Sacramento. Heat warnings are in effect from Washington to Louisiana, with temperatures reaching 111 degrees in Tucson, AZ.
