Fixing Up Houses For Afghan Refugees

In a Chicago suburb, a small Mennonite congregation is restoring a house to serve as a safe haven for Afghan refugees. Led by Catherine Mueller and Hilda Kerry, the project is a labor of love, offering the house at no cost except utilities. World Relief will use it as a transition home for Afghan families, addressing the nationwide shortage of affordable housing. Currently, many Afghan refugees remain on US military bases due to delays caused by a measles outbreak and housing shortages. The community feels the urgency to prepare the house, driven by faith and a desire to make a positive impact.
