The Los Angeles public school district mandates COVID-19 vaccinations for students aged 12 and older by the end of the year, marking the first such requirement in a US school district. Students attending in-person classes must receive their first vaccine dose by November 21 and the second by December 19. Those turning 12 during the school year have one month to start their vaccination. The district, with 600,000 students, has already implemented regular testing and mask mandates. Teachers and staff are also required to be vaccinated. Approximately 58% of US adolescents aged 12-18 have received at least one vaccine dose.
