The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) announced plans to send support missions to high-risk countries in the Americas, including Haiti, Venezuela, and Caribbean islands, due to the COVID-19 epidemic. The virus is already present in the Americas with around 200 cases, and Colombia and Costa Rica recently confirmed infections. The World Health Organization (WHO) reported no imminent shortages of medical supplies like masks and stated there's no evidence that the virus will decrease with warmer weather. The global COVID-19 epidemic has infected over 100,000 people, with more than 3,400 deaths.
