Lincoln Center Becomes New Location for Metropolitan Opera House

The Metropolitan Opera in New York has moved to a new home at Lincoln Center, a modern cultural hub. Previously housed in a Victorian building, the new Opera House is streamlined with seating for 3,800 across five levels. The building is compared to a 47-story skyscraper laid on its side, with more than half its length dedicated to backstage areas, including 20 rehearsal halls. The interior features red plush, and the structure is dominated by Austrian chandeliers. The construction cost of the new Met is $45 million, a significant increase from the original Met's cost.
