They intend to accept asylum in Chile due to persecution by Nicolás Maduro's government, which targeted 33 jurists appointed by the opposition-led Parliament. The magistrates waited for safe passage after Chile granted them asylum. Meanwhile, Maduro's government does not recognize the actions of the opposition Parliament, which has been declared in contempt by the country's Supreme Court.
