Colson Whitehead

Colson Whitehead, a versatile American writer, is known for his mastery of multiple genres and his willingness to tackle racial and socioeconomic issues. Born in New York City in 1969, he was influenced by his entrepreneurial parents and his love for reading. After studying at Harvard, he began his writing career with The Village Voice. His debut novel, The Intuitionist, was published in 1999, followed by John Henry Days. Whitehead gained international acclaim with The Underground Railroad, winning his first Pulitzer Prize, and later with The Nickel Boys. His works often explore themes of protest, racism, and human capacity for evil, drawing from true events to create impactful narratives.
