Juan Juan, a giant panda on loan from China to France, is expecting twins at the Buval Zoo. The birth is complicated as panda mothers often abandon one twin. To ensure both survive, veterinarians will alternate the babies in an incubator every two hours. The process is delicate due to the size difference between the mother and the newborns. Chinese experts will assist in the care. Juan Juan and her mate Yuan Xi arrived in France in 2012 for a 10-year stay. If successful, the panda cubs will return to China three years after birth.
