CLEAN : Germanwings says jet plunged for eight minutes

A German Wings team is in Düsseldorf to inform relatives of those on the flight list. The pilot, with over ten years of experience and 6,000 flight hours on Airbus, was involved. The plane left its cruising altitude after a minute and entered an eight-minute descent. Contact with French radar was lost at 10:53 AM at about 6,000 feet, leading to the crash.
