An armed attack on a synagogue in Halle, Germany, resulted in two deaths and two injuries. The attacker, unable to enter the synagogue, killed a passerby and targeted a Turkish restaurant. He was later arrested after a confrontation with security forces. Chancellor Angela Merkel condemned the attack and expressed solidarity with the Jewish community. The incident could have been more tragic as many were inside the synagogue for Yom Kippur. The attacker streamed the event live on Twitch, which was quickly removed.
