Humpback Whales: Giants of the Ocean

Humpback whales are named for their dorsal fin on a hump. They have long flippers and are large, with males reaching 13-15 meters and females 16-17 meters. They can be identified by unique markings. In summer, they feed in mild waters, and in winter, they migrate to tropical waters to mate, living off blubber. They live up to 50 years, are slow swimmers but skilled in acrobatics. There are about 30,000 humpback whales globally.
