FAA Predicted More Than A Dozen More Crashes But Didn't Ground 737 Max

The FAA predicted over a dozen potential crashes of the Boeing 737 Max without design changes. Despite these concerns, the plane was not grounded until a second crash occurred in Ethiopia in March 2019. Boeing had hoped the 737 Max would be operational by January 2020, but FAA Chief Steve Dixon indicated that the process would extend into 2020. The crashes resulted in 346 fatalities.
