Agriculture Department Extends Deadline For Farmers To Apply For Aid

The federal coronavirus aid program for farmers has been extended to September 11th, allowing more time for applications. Many farmers face challenges navigating federal programs. The program provides direct payments and includes a $3 billion purchase of food for distribution. Despite being four months old, less than half of the $16 billion budget has been used. The USDA initially limited payments but will now release remaining funds.
