Record Number Of Children At U.S.-Mexico Border In March

In the past month, nearly 19,000 unaccompanied children were apprehended at the US-Mexico border, marking the highest number ever recorded in a single month. This figure surpasses the previous high of about 11,000 in May 2019. The increase in border crossings is attributed to policy changes under President Biden, who reversed many of former President Trump's immigration policies. As a result, CBP facilities, designed for 250 people, are now overcrowded with over 4,000 individuals.
