Jeff Sessions Announces Bid For Former Senate Seat

Jeff Sessions announced his candidacy for his former U.S. Senate seat in Alabama, just before the filing deadline. Sessions, who served Alabama in the Senate for 20 years, resigned in 2017 to join the Trump administration. His relationship with President Trump deteriorated after recusing himself from the Russia investigation, leading to his resignation in 2018. Currently, Democratic Senator Doug Jones holds Sessions' former seat. Sessions joins a crowded Republican primary field, with the Alabama GOP primary set for March 3rd.
