Ida B. Wells: Journalist and Anti-Lynching Activist

Ida B. Wells, born into slavery, became a pioneering journalist and activist. After gaining freedom post-Civil War, she began her journalism career in Memphis, co-owning a Black newspaper. The lynching of her friend Thomas Moss spurred her crusade against lynching, making her a target. Forced to flee North, she continued raising awareness and supporting anti-lynching legislation. Her work exposed racial injustices and inspired future generations of journalists.
