VOICED : Mixed feelings as Romania marks 10 years of EU membership

Since joining the EU in 2007, Romania has experienced significant economic growth, with increased access to raw materials and a rise in foreign investment. This has led to local developments, such as new schools and cultural centers. However, economic disparities remain, with many Romanians still living below the poverty line. The country has undergone painful reforms, restructuring industries and closing unprofitable coal mines. While EU membership has improved living conditions for many, challenges persist, and further progress is needed to ensure all Romanians benefit.
