VOICED : FMI aprueba primera revisión de su programa con Argentina y desembolsa USD 4.010 millones

The IMF approved the first review of its program with Argentina, disbursing $4.01 billion to support the country's recovery. The IMF's executive board acknowledged Argentina's compliance with performance criteria and March 2022 targets. However, stricter fiscal policies are needed to meet the 2.5% primary fiscal deficit target for 2022. Argentina negotiated an extended facilities loan with the IMF to address $44 billion of a previous $57 billion credit, the largest in IMF history. The new agreement, with $9.656 billion already disbursed, allows Argentina to reprogram its debt and avoid default. The IMF's technical report highlights global challenges, including the Russia-Ukraine conflict, pandemic resurgence, tightening financial conditions, and slowing emerging economies. Argentina faces high inflation, with a 5.1% increase in May and a 29.3% rise since January.
