Angiosperms are classified based on seed characteristics into monocots and dicots. Monocots have one cotyledon, parallel leaf veins, fibrous roots, and flower parts in multiples of three. Examples include corn and lilies. Dicots have two cotyledons, net-like leaf veins, tap roots, and flower parts in multiples of four or five, with examples like roses and beans. Regardless of type, the flower is the fundamental reproductive structure of angiosperms.
