Nylon, invented in 1935, was one of the first synthetic fibers. It is made by mixing two liquids derived from crude oil, forming a solid that can be drawn into fibers. By the 1940s, nylon became extremely popular, especially for women's tights, leading to high demand and even conflicts over its purchase.
