U.N. Data Shows Number Of Global Migrants Has Spiked

A United Nations report reveals that the global migrant population has reached 272 million, making up 3.5% of the world's population, up from 2.8% in 2000. This growth rate surpasses that of the global population. The data, collected from worldwide censuses, defines migrants as individuals who change their country of residence, either voluntarily or involuntarily. Most migrants remain within their region of origin, with Europe hosting 30% of the world's migrants. The United States leads as the top destination with 50.7 million migrants, followed by Germany and Saudi Arabia, each with 13.1 million.
