Protests in the US continued for a seventh night despite curfews in many cities. Over 200 people were arrested in New York City for looting and setting fires. Clashes between police and protesters occurred in cities like Seattle, Philadelphia, and Chicago. In Saint Louis, four officers were shot but sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Some protests remained peaceful, notably in Salt Lake City, Phoenix, and Fort Worth. In Washington DC, military helicopters were used to disperse crowds. The District of Columbia can deploy the US military without a governor's approval. Over 17,000 National Guard troops have been activated across 23 states and DC.
