The 2014 Winter Games in Sochi are set to begin, with Russia finalizing preparations. The Olympic Village was inaugurated with the presence of Thomas Bach, and it will host around 3,000 athletes. The village is so large that some countries have provided bicycles for their athletes. Over 41,000 rooms are needed, with many newly constructed for the event. The total cost of the Games, including infrastructure, is $50 billion.
