Asteroid Bennu: Selecting Site Nightingale

The Osiris Rex mission aimed to study the asteroid Bennu, initially thought to have a sandy surface. However, upon arrival, the mission discovered a rocky terrain, posing challenges for sample collection. The mission adapted by selecting smaller, safer sites for sampling. Four potential sites were evaluated, with Nightingale chosen as the primary site and Osprey as the backup. The spacecraft will collect samples and return them to Earth by late 2023, providing valuable material for scientific study.
