Charlotte the spider works diligently through the night to weave a new message in her web, using her dry thread to spell 'terrific' to describe Wilbur the pig. The next morning, Wilbur is admired by all for the word in the web, and Mr. Zuckerman decides to take him to the County Fair. Templeton the rat is tasked with finding new words for the web, and after some trial and error, he brings back a suitable phrase. Wilbur performs various actions to prove he is radiant, and Charlotte tells him stories and sings a lullaby to help him sleep.
