The prologue introduces two feuding families in Verona, whose children, Romeo and Juliet, fall in love and are destined to die. Act 1 begins with a street fight between the Capulet and Montague servants, which is stopped by the Prince. Romeo is heartbroken over Rosaline's unrequited love. Paris seeks Juliet's hand in marriage, but Capulet invites him to a feast. Romeo and his friends decide to attend the feast uninvited. At the feast, Romeo and Juliet meet and fall in love, unaware of each other's identities. When they discover they are from rival families, they are devastated.
