Before you get on an airplane, for example, the TSA will make you go through a metal detector and look inside your bags and suitcases. 

Is this a violation of the 4th Amendment? 

• NO. TSA searches are legal and do not violate the Fourth Amendment. The Fourth Amendment protects citizens from unreasonable searches and seizures, but TSA searches are reasonable and for everybody's safety. Also, The 4th amendment is irrelevant because you consented to be searched as a condition of passing through security - you don’t have to fly.

• Yes. TSA scanners are highly invasive and violate the Fourth Amendment because they reveal personal information, and the Supreme Court has ruled that, generally, "searches conducted outside the judicial process, without prior approval by a judge or magistrate, are per se unreasonable under the Fourth Amendment
