Why is it important to wedge your clay before you use it to throw?

• You don't really need to wedge.

• To get out the air bubbles that can cause cracks or make it difficult to throw.

• To prevent explosions.

• Open, shape, center

What does it mean if you are feeling friction on your hands while throwing?

• Your hands or the clay aren't wet enough.

• You've used too much water on your clay.

• You need to dump a ton of water on your clay.

How do you get height or width and thin the walls of your clay?

• Pull clay upwards very quickly. You can pull all of your clay up at once.

• Add clay on to the top of your mound to get height.

• Pull clay a little at a time from the bottom of your lump of clay. Each pull thins the clay and adds height or width.
