Days of the Week and Months of the Year is a Grade 1 English worksheet that builds foundational calendar and date skills. Students complete eight fill-in-the-blank questions and two multiple-choice questions about sequencing days, identifying yesterday and tomorrow, counting the days in a week, naming months in order, identifying a season from its months, and recognizing the correct written date format. This free printable worksheet helps students connect calendar vocabulary with simple time relationships, such as determining that the day after Friday is Saturday or that the month before September is August. It also checks recall of January as the first month, March as the third month, and the summer months. Use it for guided practice, independent review, or a quick check of Grade 1 students’ understanding. An answer key is included for efficient checking.

This Grade 1 English worksheet practices sequencing the days of the week and months of the year, identifying yesterday and tomorrow, and recognizing seasonal months. Its 10 items include eight fill-in-the-blank questions and two multiple-choice questions, including one on the correct written date format. Completing the items helps students apply calendar order rather than only recite names.
Introduce a classroom calendar and have students identify today, yesterday, and tomorrow before students begin the fill-in-the-blank items. Model how to move one step forward or backward in the weekly sequence, then repeat the process with month order using examples such as September and August. Use the multiple-choice items afterward to discuss why June, July, and August belong to summer and why “September 21, 2023” is the correctly written date.
Watch for students reversing yesterday and tomorrow, especially when they must move backward from Thursday or forward from Friday. Some students may omit a day when recalling that a week has seven days or confuse a month’s position, such as March being the third month. In the final multiple-choice item, check that students place the month before the day and year in the expected written date format.
