This free Grade 2 mathematics worksheet helps students find one more, one less, ten more, and ten less than a given number. It includes six fill-in-the-blank items, such as finding ten less than 67 or identifying how 32 compares with 22, so learners practise applying these changes accurately and expressing them in words or numerals. Four multiple-choice items extend the skill to number patterns. Students identify whether a sequence changes by +1, -1, +10, or -10 and select missing numbers in patterns such as 9, 19, 29, 39, 49, 59. The worksheet is suitable for Grade 2 instruction, independent practice, review, or a quick check of number-sequence understanding. It is available as a free printable worksheet with a complete answer key.

This Grade 2 worksheet practises finding one more, one less, ten more, and ten less, then applying those changes to number patterns. Six fill-in-the-blank questions require students to calculate or describe the difference, while four multiple-choice questions ask them to identify rules such as +1, -1, +10, or -10 and use those rules to complete sequences.
Begin by modeling a few examples with a hundreds chart or open number line, showing that moving one step changes by 1 and moving ten steps changes by 10. Have students explain the operation before completing the fill-in-the-blank items, then use the pattern questions to connect the same operations to repeated changes in a sequence. Ask students to justify why a pattern such as 78, 68, 58 follows -10 rather than -1.
Students may reverse the direction of the change, giving 68 instead of 88 for ten more than 78 or treating one less as ten less. They may also confuse the rules in the multiple-choice patterns, especially +1 with +10 and -1 with -10. Check that students apply the selected rule to every blank, rather than identifying the rule but filling the sequence inconsistently.
Wayground provides this worksheet as a printable PDF and as a digital quiz, and it includes a complete answer key for the six fill-in-the-blank and four multiple-choice items. Printable submissions can be graded by scanning student work with the Wayground for Teachers app.
In the worksheet’s Advanced Settings, adjust font spacing or choose a larger font size to make the fill-in-the-blank prompts and number-pattern choices easier to read. You can also apply a dyslexia-friendly font or translate the worksheet into another language while keeping the one-more, one-less, ten-more, and ten-less practice intact.
