Coordinate Plane Review is a Grade 8 mathematics worksheet that reinforces how to read and write ordered pairs on the coordinate plane. Students identify Quadrants I–IV from coordinates, locate labeled points, determine coordinates from plotted letters, recognize the origin, and distinguish the horizontal x-axis from the vertical y-axis. The questions also address coordinate order by asking which value is the x-coordinate or y-coordinate. The worksheet contains 20 items: 19 multiple-choice questions and one fill-in-the-blank coordinate item. It gives students repeated practice connecting numerical ordered pairs to positions on a coordinate plane while checking quadrant and axis vocabulary. Use this free printable worksheet for independent practice, review, or a quick formative check, and use the included answer key to verify student understanding.

This Grade 8 worksheet practices reading and writing ordered pairs, identifying Quadrants I–IV, locating labeled points, and recognizing the origin and x- and y-axes. Its 20 items—19 multiple choice and one fill-in-the-blank question—require students to connect coordinates such as (3, 5) or (-6, -9) with locations on the plane and to identify the x- and y-values in an ordered pair.
Introduce the worksheet by reviewing the order (x, y), the horizontal x-axis, the vertical y-axis, and the origin before students begin. Then model how the signs of the coordinates identify a quadrant, and have students explain their reasoning as they work through the labeled-point and coordinate-identification questions. Use the final coordinate items to check whether students can apply the vocabulary rather than only recognize quadrant names.
Watch for students reversing the x- and y-coordinates, especially when identifying the y-coordinate in an ordered pair or locating a labeled point. Students may also confuse the axes with quadrants, place (0, 0) in a quadrant instead of calling it the origin, or misread negative signs and select the wrong quadrant. Check the fill-in-the-blank item for correct coordinate order and notation as well as the correct values.
The worksheet is available as a printable PDF and as a digital quiz on Wayground, and it includes a complete answer key for all 20 coordinate-plane items. For printable submissions, you can scan student work with the Wayground for Teachers app to support grading. The PDF option also provides a paper-based alternative for schools reducing screen time.
In the worksheet’s Advanced Settings, adjust font spacing and font size to make the ordered-pair choices and labeled-point questions easier to read. You can also enable a dyslexia-friendly font or translate the worksheet into another language when those options support access to the coordinate-plane vocabulary and directions.
