Singular and Plural Nouns is a free printable English worksheet for students in Grades 1–2. It contains 10 questions: nine multiple-choice items and one fill-in-the-blank item. Students identify whether nouns refer to one or more than one person, place, or thing, select plural nouns from a group, and form plural nouns such as pans, foxes, benches, brushes, and glasses. The worksheet gives focused practice with the spelling patterns used to make nouns plural. Students apply -s to words such as pan and -es to nouns ending in ch, sh, x, or s, including bench, brush, fox, and glass. The included answer key supports quick checking, reteaching, and independent practice, making this free printable worksheet useful for introducing or reviewing early grammar skills.

This Grade 1–2 English worksheet helps students distinguish singular nouns that name one from plural nouns that name more than one. Across nine multiple-choice questions and one fill-in-the-blank item, students identify plural nouns and form plurals with -s and -es, including pans, foxes, benches, brushes, and glasses.
Introduce the one-versus-more-than-one distinction, then model how pan becomes pans and how nouns ending in ch, sh, x, or s take -es. Have students explain why choices such as foxes, benches, and brushes are correct before completing the multiple-choice items and the final glass-to-glasses fill-in-the-blank item.
Students may add only -s to nouns ending in ch, sh, x, or s, producing errors such as foxs, benchs, or brushs instead of foxes, benches, and brushes. Also watch for students choosing a singular noun such as swing, desk, or shoe when asked to identify the plural noun, or confusing the one-item meaning of singular with the more-than-one meaning of plural.
