Noun Review is a free printable English worksheet for Grades 3–4 that strengthens students’ understanding of nouns through 11 questions: four multiple-select items and seven multiple-choice items. Students identify nouns in sentences, distinguish common nouns from proper nouns, form regular and irregular plurals, and make nouns possessive. Examples include selecting “cousins” and “pool,” classifying “California” and “book,” changing “beach” to “beaches” and “child” to “children,” and forming possessives such as “Sally’s pencil” and “cousins’ football.” This worksheet gives teachers a focused way to check whether students can recognize nouns in context and apply key noun rules in written forms. It is suitable for independent practice, review, homework, or a short assessment after instruction. The free printable worksheet includes a complete answer key, so teachers can quickly identify whether students need more support with noun categories, plural spelling patterns, irregular plurals, or singular and plural possessives.

This Grade 3–4 English worksheet uses four multiple-select and seven multiple-choice questions to practise four noun skills: identifying nouns in sentences, distinguishing common from proper nouns, forming regular and irregular plurals, and writing possessive nouns. Students apply the rules to examples such as “California,” “beaches,” “children,” “Sally’s pencil,” and “cousins’ football.”
Introduce the worksheet by having students identify the nouns in the two sentence-based items and explain what makes each word a noun. Then model how common and proper nouns differ, sort regular and irregular plural examples such as “stories” and “feet,” and finish by discussing why “Sally’s” and “cousins’” use different possessive forms. Use the answer choices to prompt students to explain why the incorrect spellings do not follow the applicable noun rule.
Students may select verbs or adjectives instead of nouns in the sentence items, such as choosing “having” or “huge.” They may also treat proper nouns like “California” as common nouns, add -s mechanically to irregular nouns such as “foot” and “child,” miss the -es or -ies spelling in “classes” and “stories,” or confuse the apostrophe placement in singular “Sally’s” and plural “cousins’.”
You can assign Noun Review as a printable PDF or as a digital quiz on Wayground, and it includes a complete answer key for all 11 questions. Printable submissions can be graded by scanning student work with the Wayground for Teachers app. The printable option also gives schools a way to reduce screen time while students practise noun rules.
Under the worksheet’s Advanced Settings, adjust font spacing or font size to make the sentence-identification items and answer choices easier to read. You can also turn on a dyslexia-friendly font or translate the worksheet into another language, helping students access the noun examples and plural and possessive questions in a more readable format.
