On December 5, police were called to the local convenience store when the owner
reported someone had drawn graffiti on the side of the building. After viewing the
surveillance footage, officers are confident they will locate the vandals.

For this recipe you will need: sugar, butter, one egg, peanut butter, salt, baking soda, flour and vanilla extract. Begin by preheating the oven to 375°. In a mixer, cream together 1 stick of butter and 1 cup of sugar, then set aside. In a small bowl, beat the egg and add 1 cup of peanut butter, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and 1 teaspoon of baking soda. Continue stirring until the mixture is smooth. Then, slowly stir in apinch of salt and 1-1/2 cups of flour. Add this to the butter and sugar mixture.

Local News: A Smithtown man walking his dog slid down an embankment yesterday and into the ice cold water of Lake Maidstone. Luckily, several people witnessed his mishap, immediately contacted emergency personnel, and began to work to pull the man out of the water. Both the man and his dog were rescued and are recovering at home.

The Persian is a medium sized cat breed that usually grows to between 7 and 12
pounds. Its luxurious, long-haired coat makes it easily identifiable. The breed has a large, round head and large eyes. Unlike most cats, the Persian’s small ears are round rather than pointed, matching its round paws that extend from its short, thick legs.

Next month, our school will begin offering an optional penmanship class. Because of increasing demands on the school day, penmanship isn’t taught as rigorously as it was in the past. As a result, many students do not have clear, legible handwriting. The penmanship class will be an afterschool program. The president visited the University of Nebraska today and spoke to students about the importance of education. He pledged to continue his work to make college tuition more affordable. After his speech, the president toured a biology lab where graduate students are investigating new ways to detect and prevent childhood illnesses.

Kimberly walked slowly through the greenhouse, gazing at the lush plants. She took in the sights of her oranges, lemons, and ripe red tomatoes. She couldn’t believe how successful the business was becoming, and she could hardly conceal her pride. This was her greenhouse and her story of success.

 On the first day of school, be sure to follow these steps to ensure you are properly registered and in the correct classroom. First, be sure to find your name on the student list in each hallway. Note which room number appears next to your name on the list. If you do not find your name on a list, return to the main lobby to ask the greeter for assistance.

Out the window, there was only white. Snow hung from the branches of the hemlock trees and covered the top of the short fence in the back yard. The pavement of the street in front of the house was smooth and white like a frosted wedding cake.

Before transplanting a rose bush, be sure you have watered the plant deeply. Reduce the size of the plant by trimming long branches. Next, dig the new hole into which you will plant the bush. Remove the bush carefully from its current location, leaving plenty of extra soil around the roots. Place the bush into the new hole. Replace about half of the soil, then water and add fertilizer before replacing the rest of the soil.

The voting age in the United States is currently 18. This age was determined many years ago—long before young people had access to the internet for research purposes. Now that younger people can read about political issues and candidates, I think it makes sense to lower the voting age to 14.
