I was our nation's 1st "First Lady" When I married my husband I was a widower and was known for hosting large social events despite being a very private person.

I am credited with drafting the US Declaration of Independence.  As our nation's 3rd President I was responsible for the Louisiana Purchase.

In 1774 I served on the First Continental Congress and helped draft the Declaration of Independence.  I later became thte first Vice President and then our nation's 2nd President.

Before I was our 4th President I wrote one of the first drafts of the U.S. Constitution and co-wrote the Federalist Papers. I also initiated the War of 1812 and served two terms in the White House.

As our nation's 5th President I oversaw major Westward expansion.  I also warned European countries  of furthur Western colonization.

I followed in my father's footsteps and became our nation's sixth President.  The election of 1824 was highly contentious as I was strongly against slavery and a strong supporter of freedom of speech.

Before I was our nation's 7th President I was a celebrated war hero.  I am also responsible for the creation of the Democratic party.

Unlike the previous seven presidents before, I am the only President born a U.S. Citizen.  I was close to the former President Andrew Jackson and helped his newly formed Democratic party.

Although I never became President, I am credited with being one of the most influential people of the U.S. political system.  I was a staunch supporter of strong central government and was one of the author's of the Federalist Papers.

I was a Chief Justice on the Supreme Court and started my career in law defending clients against pre-war British creditors. I became Chief Justice in 1801. 

I first served as a private secretary to President Thomas Jefferson then he made me another offer that made me famous.  With the help of William Clark and Sacagawea we successfully completed a quest to the west which lead us to the Pacific Ocean.

Along with Sacajewea and Meriwether Lewis I traveled 8,000 miles over two years to explore lands west of the Mississippi River.

Born to the Chief of the Shoshone tribe, I was the child bride of a Canadian trapper. In 1804 I joined Lewis & Clark on an expedition to map the western lands of America.

I was a key player in South America's fight for Independence from the Spanish Empire.  The Republic of Bolivia is named in my honor

For more than 40 years I played a central role in our country's politics. I was the leader of the Whig party and served as Secretary of State under John Quincy Adams.

Not onlyl was I a US Ambassador to Spain but the celebrated author of "Rip Van Winkle" and "The Legend of Sleepy Hallow." I also fought for strong copyright laws.

After I lost a bet to my wife, I began to write novels.  My first book "Precaution" was published anonymously in 1820.  I later wrote "The Leatherstocking Tales" which included the famous story "The Last of the Mohicans"

I was born in England in 1801 and was the founder of the Hudson River School.

I was known as the "Missouri Artist" and painted landscapes of the American Frontier.  I was inspired by my parents whom moved to the Lewis & Clark trail.
